It focuses on upcoming and existing Australian designers as well as international design that is at the forefront on the world stage. Through visiting the exhibition and talking to many of the designers, the trends in modern and luxury design are clear.

As planning for Melbourne changes and is ever scrutinised, local councils are responding and changing the way in which projects are reviewed and accepted, but this can make it difficult to know where you stand.

Bayside City Council announced in May that it would be implementing measures to allow approvals to processed faster and has worked with architects throughout this time to ensure the measures are put to the best use. Finnis Architects, which recently directly received news that these processes and additional staff are now in place, has had a strong and positive history with Bayside including having won the Bayside Built Environment Award for a previous project. This year, Finnis Architects hit the ground running by presenting not one, but two projects at the Australian Institute of Architects Victorian Architecture Awards. The awards, which celebrate the very best in built architecture in Victoria were capped off last night at No Vacancy Gallery where the entrants and winners were acknowledged at the public awards exhibition. This was a fantastic opportunity for us to not only reflect, but celebrate the achievements made.

Recently, Finnis Architects competed three teams in the Australian Corporate Triathlon, which raises funds for beyondblue. The event, which was held on Sunday saw nine Finnis staff compete with each member from each team completing one leg of the race whilst being cheered on by the rest of the staff and their families who had all come out to support us.

Finnis Architects was recently shown at the Victorian Architecture Awards among some of the best architecture firms in Melbourne and Victoria. Finnis displayed our Willow Grove Residence in full for the first time to an impressed audience. The project, which featured environmental design details, as well as innovative materials and a contemporary design was well received by the jurors.

The recent success of The Esplanade House, a project by Finnis Architects, has taken the architecture world by storm. After first being reviewed on CONTEMPORIST, an internationally viewed design website, the team at Finnis have had an overwhelming response to the project. The original article was positively received, with thousands of views and quickly obtaining hundreds of shares across social media. But this was just the start, the article sparked even more reviews coming in from all over the world.

The design team was also surprised to be contacted by ArchDaily, the number one most viewed architecture website in the world. With over 55,000,000 views a month and projects submitted from the top practices all over the world, the team at Finnis were thrilled when the editors at ArchDaily personally contacted us to show our project.
