Les Finnis RAIA
As the founder of Finnis Architects, Les has established a studio with a strong architectural language and open, collaborative culture. He has a great ability to combine business acumen with a design agenda. He enjoys his role mentoring younger staff and gets great satisfaction from designing spaces that make people feel good.
After graduating with an honours degree in Architecture at the University of Melbourne in 1981, Les began his career with Daryl Jackson Architects. He quickly established himself within the industry gaining respect from colleagues and clients, then in 1985 assumed the position of Associate Director at NTMH architects.
In 2002 Les became a founding Director of Shelton Finnis Architects which currently manage over twenty residential estates throughout Victoria and New South Wales. This has also culminated in becoming actively involved with the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA Victoria chapter) in the capacity of Design Committee Advisor.
Early 2011 Les also became founding Director of Finnis Architects and via his extensive design experience and industry knowledge the office is successfully undertaking and specializing in a broad range of commercial, hospitality, residential, multi residential, retirement and industrial development projects.
Realizing the importance both planning and authority processes play in a projects ultimate and timely success, Les continues to play a major role in the nurturing of a projects’ development throughout the planning and approvals process.
